Shannon Walsh - TrumpetTrumpet player Shannon Walsh hails from the San Francisco Bay Area. Shannon is currently a trumpet performance major at IU’s Jacobs School of Music, where she is a student of John Rommel and has performed as a member of the Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, University Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble. At IU, Shannon is a Susan Slaughter Trumpet Scholar, Premier Young Artist Award recipient, Music Faculty Award recipient, and a Founder's Scholar. Prior to her studies at IU, Shannon’s pedagogues included Adam Luftman and Mario Guarneri. Shannon is a former member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, where she was principle trumpet. Shannon participated in the Bay Area Youth Orchestra Festival and the New York Youth Orchestra Festival, which culminated in a performance in Carnegie Hall. As a soloist, Shannon has performed with the El Camino Youth Symphony and El Camino Wind Ensemble. While holding positions as production manager and assistant director, Shannon has attended the Summer Brass Institute and Festival where she studied with artists including Gabriele Cassone, Glen Fischthal, Adolph “Bud” Herseth, Mark Inouye, Jens Lindemann, Chris Martin, and Michael Sachs.
