The Leaves of Brass QuintetThe Leaves of Brass Quintet was formed in 2011 by musicians from California, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Virginia who somehow ended up in Indiana. From day one, members Shannon Walsh, Emily Rodeck, Raleigh Mostov, Karen Mari, and Isaac Brinberg have striven to produce quality performances of interesting music. The defining joy of these members is combining their individual musical perspectives into one homogenous group. Leaves of Brass enjoys an active performing life as part of the IU Bloomington community, and is always gearing up for their next performance.
The inspiration for the name of the quintet was taken from Walt Whitman's collection of poetry entitled Leaves of Grass (1855), which celebrates human senses and the individual in the context of the natural world.
